OH DEER GOD
loser

Oh Deer God is a series that is about an ancient religion named Stagria that is revived by a teenage cult of pseudo-sisters. They revive the main god of Stagria, named Venison, in a Weendigo-like vessel. It currently has a (crappy) webcomic and an upcoming animated pilot and, hopefully, a full series.

In a small woodland town in Colorado, six young women under the alias of The Dear Deer Sisters revitalize the religion known as Stagria, alongside their mentor, Stagnator, and antlered outcast, Jane Doe. Stagria is a religion that is intended to heal, but the group utilizes the scripture in morally nuanced and dubious ways. Some that might even go against the teachings of the prophets and deities.

A teenage girl named Cyro is searching for an escape from her current faith, along with her other friends. While frolicking the the forest, she finds a scripture revolving around Stagria. She connected with it. She saw something beautiful in it. Her and her friends wanted to revive Stagria. They stitched together a vessel for the Great Stag from two of their friends who volunteered. Those two friends didn’t truly feel like it was for their religion, they thought it was for Cyro’s gain. To make her feel better about herself. One of those girls, named Jordan, felt spiteful, while Charlotte felt scared. Charlotte expresses her fear through her art with her friend, Widdarius, who is quiet but sweet and loves Charlotte with all his art. Another one of the friends, named Aura, has been best friends with Cyro for quite a while. She tries to stray from the group, but only gets ridiculed by Cyro. She prefers to hang out with Jane Doe. Aura sympathises with Jane, as she has a genetic disease that gives her defects similar to a deer. Jane comes off as quiet at first, but energetic and a little sassy once you get to know her. Aura and Jane both have a growing romantic attraction to one another. Endie is the friend who is a bright-eye kid who follows Cyro to a t. Denver is the straight man of the group (well not literally, but you get what I mean). She tries to help the group calm down when conflict arises. Cyro attempts to advertise Stagria to potential believers, when a wealthy warrior venture capitalist only known by Stagnator takes a heaping amount of interest in the friend’s escapades. He not only funds the creation of the Stagrian church, but he also stages ways to convert non-believers, such as the race known as the Widdles. He wants to use Jane as a way to show off Stagria, as he believes she is an oracle. This leads to Jane and Aura to grow further apart, which absolutely shatters both of their hearts.
